Warm, humid, bright, and evenly damp. Keep it simple and steady.
Anthurium seeds do not store like dry vegetable seed. Sow soon after you receive them. Keep them moist in transit and in your setup.
Most growers start on damp sphagnum moss, or a light mix of sphagnum with perlite. The medium should feel like a wrung-out sponge, never soggy.
Place seeds on top of the medium. Do not bury them deep. A light press is enough so they contact the moss.
Use a clear propagation box or lidded container. High humidity helps seeds stay evenly moist while roots form. Crack the lid briefly each day for air.
Aim for about 75 to 82°F and bright indirect light or a grow light. Skip hot direct sun inside a closed box. It cooks seedlings.
Wait until you see a few true leaves and a workable root system. Then move into a chunky aroid mix with good airflow around the roots.
For mature plant culture after seedlings size up, UF/IFAS commercial guidelines for interiorscape Anthurium emphasize warm temperatures, high humidity, and well-drained media in the roughly pH 6.0 to 6.5 range for finished plants.

Once seedlings are established, shift toward a chunkier adult mix (bark, coco, perlite, and similar). Anthuriums need oxygen at the roots. Dense, waterlogged media is a common failure point.

With warm, humid conditions, many fresh seeds show roots or green growth in about 1 to 3 weeks. Some start sooner. Keep conditions stable and avoid digging them up to check.
Increase airflow for a few hours, remove surface fuzz carefully, and confirm the medium is damp rather than waterlogged. Stale, soggy air is usually the issue.
