How to Acclimate Your Tissue Culture Plant

Anthuriums love a humid, cozy start to life. Give your new lab-grown baby the best launch possible with these easy steps:

1.The Waiting Game:1 to 2 Days.

Keep the package completely sealed for forty-eight hours after arrival. This gives your plant time to adjust to the temperature and lighting of your home without feeling rushed.

2.Rinse and Shine:Crucial Step.

Gently remove the plant from its package and wash all of the agar jelly off the roots using lukewarm running water. A tiny, soft paintbrush can help you clean out the tight crevices. Clean roots mean zero mold issues down the road.

3.Time to Pot:Choosing a Medium.

Plant your culture into a super airy, loose potting medium. We love using a chunky mix of coco husk and perlite, or specialized acclimation plugs to give those delicate baby roots plenty of oxygen.

4.Create a Micro-Climate:First 24 Hours.

Place your newly potted Anthurium inside a clear, sealed container or a transparent zip bag. You want to see water droplets forming on the inside within twenty-four hours, which confirms you hit that perfect 100% tropical humidity.

5.Light Therapy:Daily Routine.

Set your sealed container under a high-quality grow light for 8 to 14 hours a day so it has the energy to pump out new roots.

6.Hardening Off:7 to 10 Days.

Keep the container fully closed for the first week. For the next ten days, slowly open the lid or bag a little wider each day to introduce regular room air until it is fully acclimated.

Long-Term Care Tips

Anthurium Regale has a reputation for being a bit of a diva, but once you know its favorite things, care is a breeze:

Light: Bright, indirect sunlight is the sweet spot. Give it at least 6 hours of filtered light daily, but keep it out of harsh direct rays to avoid scorching that beautiful velvet texture.
Temperature: Keep your royal guest in a warm room between 65°F and 85°F. They absolutely detest cold drafts and dry air from heating vents.
Humidity: High humidity is non-negotiable for big, beautiful leaves. Aim to keep a humidifier running nearby to mimic its native rainforest home.
Watering: Keep the growing medium evenly moist but never waterlogged. Always use a pot with excellent drainage holes because soggy roots will cause a royal tantrum.
Soil: Give it a rich, chunky aroid mix. A blend heavy on coco husk and perlite keeps the moisture balanced while letting the roots breathe perfectly.
